DITO vows to protect subscribers against mobile scams

DITO Telecommunity on Tuesday vowed to protect its subscribers amid rising mobile scams in the country.

Tamano said the unique nature of registration via the DITO App has been one of the cornerstones of the DITO commitment to subscriber security. DITO has trained its registration system to recognize 12 IDs, including passport, National ID, Social Security System ID, driver’s license, National Bureau of Investigation clearance, Unified Multi-Purpose ID, license to own and possess firearm ID, Philippine Regulations Commission ID, Philippine Postal ID, overseas Filipino worker’s ID, Taxpayer Identification Card and Government Service Insurance System ID.

The company deployed data and face matching functionality in its registration system. Data captured through the OCR, including the photo shown in the ID, are matched with the encoded information and the selfie taken.
