Distressed animals alerted staff after cabin set alight at animal rescue project

Police are appealing for witnesses.

Emergency services were called to Lamont Farm Project in Erskine at around 4.15am on Friday, March 31 following a report of the blaze.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended and extinguished the fire which took place in a cabin based within the grounds on Barrhill Road.None of the animals were injured as a result of the incident. Police are now checking local CCTV and are appealing to anyone who saw anything suspicious to come forward.

Detective Constable Robert Urquhart, Paisley CID, said:"Thankfully none of the animals were injured as a result of this but it was noise from their distress that alerted staff to the fire. "Officers are currently checking local CCTV and checking with neighbouring properties but would appeal to anyone who may have seen or heard something suspicious in the early hours of Friday morning to come forward"Please quote reference number 0401 of Friday, March 31, 2023, when calling.
