Walt Disney World is set to relaunch its highly popular Disney College Program starting in June, the companyMonday, describing the move as the latest example of"important indicators toward fully reopening.

The competitive program—offering paid, semester-long internships to college students—was shut down along with all park operations in March of 2020, with thousands of students sent home and unable to complete the program. Disney said those students are encouraged to reapply, and will be given exclusive access to opportunities before new applicants. Eligibility requirements will also change so that some students who already graduated can still apply, according to Disney. Students in the program work part-time at Disney World’s theme parks or resorts while taking college courses, and live in Disney-provided housing."The Disney College Program has always been a source of optimism and pride for our company with participants who each bring new ideas, talents, and perspectives to the table," Disney said in a statement.
