And now it’s given us a good indication of just how wide-ranging this new Dolby Vision support is likely to be by confirming that Dolby’s premium HDR format is going to be available on its next batch of Star Wars and Marvel TV show 4K Blu-ray releases.

Dolby Vision, if you’re not familiar with it, adds extra scene by scene data to the image stream that compatible 4K Blu-ray players and TVs can use to deliver more accurate and, usually, more dynamic-looking HDR pictures. It’s a hugely popular feature with AV fans, but one that Disney had stopped supporting on 4K Blu-ray since its release of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” way back in 2018.
