2026 has been a great year for Star Wars fans so far. Darth Maul emerged from the shadows with a new Disney+ series that has not only become the highest-rated project in Star Wars history, but it’s already been picked up for Season 2.
Leading star Sam Witwer, who does the voice work for Darth Maul in the Disney+ series, has also confirmed that the wait for Season 2 won’t be too long. Star Wars will finally make its long-awaited return to the big screen for the first time since 2019 with The Mandalorian and Grogu.
The live-action feature film will be a direct continuation of the Star Wars Disney+ series that launched back in 2019, along with the original release of the Disney+ platform. It’s unclear what else lies beyond The Mandalorian and Grogu for Star Wars in 2026. For a while now, it was thought that the second season of Ahsoka would premiere on Disney+ before the end of this year, but it’s been confirmed that this is no longer the case.
During the Disney upfront presentation this afternoon, it was revealed that Ahsoka Season 2 has been delayed and will not release on Disney+ until early 2027. The show wrapped filming last year, but it will seemingly take a full year of post-production to make sure the visual effects are up to par with what fans have come to expect from Star Wars shows on Disney+.
Plot details about Ahsoka Season 2 are being kept under wraps for now, but stars like Rosario Dawson, Hayden Christensen, and Eman Esfandi will return as Ahsoka, Anakin Skywalker, and Ezra Bridger, respectively.
