Disney Is Donating Excess Food to Food Banks While Its Parks Are Temporarily Shut Down
. Now, Disneyland and Disney World are sharing a bit of good news that's come out of it: The resorts will be donating all of their excess food to local food banks.that it would be donating all excess food inventory from Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park during the closure to Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.
The parks already have existing partnerships with the food banks, in which they donate prepared, unserved food to those who need it. Last year, according to that statement, the Disneyland parks donated 20,000 meals via that program. Disney World said it donated 1 million meals last year via its program.
"Second Harvest Food Bank is known for their vital work addressing critical food needs in Central Florida, and we know the important role we play in helping to bring meaningful solutions to our community in times of great need," said director of External Affairs at Walt Disney World Resort Tajiana Ancora-Brown said in a statement.
The parks are scheduled to be closed through the end of March, and though it's sad to see them temporarily shuttered, at least fans can rest easy that all that delicious food is not going to waste.
