The Walt Disney Co.'s flagship streaming service will become available in the Southeast Asian country on June 1.
Disney+ Hotstar is expanding its footprint into Southeast Asia. The Walt Disney Co. said Tuesday that its flagship direct-to-consumer streaming channel will launch in Malaysia on June 1. Local consumers will be able to subscribe directly to Disney+ Hotstar for $13.

As part of its effort to win local consumers and support the Malaysian industry, Disney said it also has entered into a collection of multi-year deals with leading Malaysian studios, such as Skop Productions, Revolution Media Films, Primeworks Studios, WAU Animation, Act 2 Pictures, Les’ Copaque Production, Red Films and more. These partnerships will make Disney+ Hotstar the exclusive home to some of Malaysia’s most anticipated new films, which will skip theaters and launch straight on the streaming service, such asi, starring Zul Ariffin, Ashraf Sinclair and Amelia Henderson;Ejen Ali The Movie 2Malaysian television content included under the agreements includes TV3’s, both of which will premiere first on Disney+ Hotstar at 7 a.m. on the same day as the linear telecast, giving drama aficionados exclusive access to the series up to 15 hours before anywhere else.
