Disney+ has greenlit a new original animated fantasy series titled 'Journey,' produced in collaboration with Higher Ground, the production company founded by former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama. The series, set to premiere on Disney+, follows a young heroine who embarks on a dangerous quest beyond the protective walls of her city after its energy shield begins to fail. Along the way, she uncovers clues about her father's disappearance and discovers a powerful magic within herself. The series is being produced by ICON Creative Studio in association with Disney Television Animation, with Matt Munn (Ice Age: Collision Course, Spies in Disguise) as creator and executive producer. He is joined by Peabody Award winner Steve Loter (Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Kim Possible) and Jessie Dicovitsky as executive producers for Higher Ground. Matt Munn, known for his work on 'Ice Age: Collision Course' and 'Spies in Disguise,' created the series and serves as an executive producer.
He is joined by Peabody Award-winning Steve Loter, whose credits include 'Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur' and 'Kim Possible,' along with Jessie Dicovitsky acting as executive producer for Higher Ground.
