A West Coast Eagles great has put his former club in the gun, naming omission candidates amid a frustrated plea for the coach’s departure.
“The group’s completely behind ‘Simmo’, and he’s not out there playing, so as a member and leader of the group that was out there on the weekend, that wasn’t acceptable,” Allen said following the defeat. “His winning record over the last three years isn’t great. I think it’s about nine wins out of 59 games . I don’t think too many coaches survive worldwide with that type of record, let alone in football.
“If Damien Hardwick did what he did with Richmond and he’s a three-time premiership coach, you just wonder why Adam hasn’t gone to the club and said ‘look, I’ve had a good innings here, 12 years or so, I’ve won you a premiership, I’ve been a great coach’, and he has been, so don’t get me wrong,” Sumich continued.
“I think we’re going to start to hear a lot more about Dean Cox, because he’s so highly rated there at Sydney,” Clark told Fox Footy’s“He’s the right-hand man to John Longmire, but if Simpson does go at the end of the year, Dean Cox would be the short-priced favourite to go back. “I’ve been on Jack Darling’s case for a long while,” the 150-game Eagle said. “He’s had enough . We’ve got Jack Williams, who’s played in the WAFL and kicked four goals.
