COLUMBUS, Ohio – A state board has recommended that Timothy Grendell, the controversial Geauga County judge, be suspended from the bench for a year.
In a statement, Grendell said he would fight the board’s recommendation “with confidence of a better outcome.” In a filing, the counsel called Grendell a “bully who abused his power abandoned his role as a neutral advocate.” “He put a 15- and a 13-year-old boy in juvenile detention for three nights for failing to visit with their father during a global pandemic,” said Joseph Caligiuri, the state disciplinary counsel pressing the case against Grendell, in February during hisIn a statement Tuesday, Grendell said his decisions were based on the recommendations of a court mental health expert, “that letting the boys terminate their relationship with their father would cause them permanent psychological harm.
