A father filed a lawsuit against an airline after his son allegedly died when an airline worker dropped him from a wheelchair while boarding a plane. HUNTINGTON, W.V. - A father filed a lawsuit against an airline after his son allegedly died when an airline worker dropped him from a wheelchair while boarding a plane.

, Adkins and his two sons, 24-year-old Hunter Adkins and 9-year-old Kaden Adkins, were boarding an Allegiance Airlines flight a Hunting Tri-State Airport on March 28, 2024. Hunter, who reportedly lived with muscular dystrophy, used a wheelchair to get around. Hunter was allegedly being aided by the airport's "wheelchair assistants" who were supposed to move Hunter from his motorized wheelchair to an "aisle wheelchair" that would allow him to navigate the plane safely. Instead, the lawsuit claimed that the plane's captain was "rushing the boarding process so that the plane could be on the runway and take off in 20 minutes," prompting the wheelchair assistants to leave Hunter so they could help load luggage. The remaining assistants placed Hunter in wheelchair that lacked adequate safety straps instead of the aisle wheelchair and began pushing him toward the plane. While ascending the ramp to the plane's door, Hunter, the wheelchair, and the attending wheelchair assistant tipped over, causing Hunter to fall on his face and the wheelchair and assistant to fall on top of him, the lawsuit said. Hunter was taken to the hospital with "multiple blunt force injuries," and succumbed to his injuries roughly 15 hours later.Adkins is seeking over $15,000 in damages in connection with Hunter's death and additional damages related to emotional distress, noting that his 9-year-old child witnessed his brother's death.Columbus police responded to a shooting on Lockbourne Road early Wednesday morning.Few details were immediately available, but ABC6 confirmed the shooting tThe Columbus city attorney is requesting the court to shut down a bar in the Linden area to protect public safety after a shooting there left two people injuredA body found floating in Big Walnut Creek by passerby Sunday has been identified as Angela Fair.
