Blackpool Promenade Hotel has faced huge amounts of criticism in recent weeks
A Blackpool hotel has closed down after photos circulated online on its shocking levels of cleanliness.
He said: "The post which has been circulated online I must stress is not a true representation of the hotel, the images are from rooms not in use and we would never check anyone into rooms that looked like that. In the past 2 weeks we have made a substantial investment into the hotel, not just financially but also in starting our major renovation which has been planned for a long time.
"We don’t want the article to impact the tourism in Blackpool or to create a bad image for the town , the pictures create a very bad image of our hotel and the whole holiday accommodation industry in Blackpool, the town has hundreds of wonderful hotels which are maintained to a very high standard and this is something we will now be doing before we re open.
The hotel has had swathes of poor reviews in recent months. On TripAdvisor, one visitor posted a one-star review, which was posted on 8 April and titled 'Please do yourself a favour and AVOID!'
