The highest amounts of rain appeared concentrated across the North Bay on Sunday morning, with much of the rest of the region receiving just a dash of precipitation.
“Maybe we won’t see the higher end of what we were predicting, but some of the low-end totals that we had in the forecast, we’ve certainly got time for,” said Dalton Behringer, a National Weather Service meteorologist.
It’s all due to a low-pressure system that moved down the Pacific Coast from the Gulf of Alaska and now appears to have stalled over the ocean to the west of the Bay Area, Behringer said. The system should linger through at least Tuesday, bringing with it cooler temperatures and much-needed rain to Northern California.
Much of the Highway 101 corridor north of Santa Rosa received about a quarter-inch of rain by about 7 a.m. Sunday, while portions of the North Bay coastline north of Bodega Bay received between .38 to .68 inches of rain.
