The Lynx put things on cruise control after jumping ahead to a big lead, keeping themselves in the hunt for the top seed in the Cook Inlet Conference past the mid-year mark.
Dimond football tackles another foe for 5th straight winANCHORAGE, Alaska - Many of the players on the current Dimond football roster hadn’t yet been born the last time the Lynx brought home a state title, but this year’s roster could change that if they remain in current form., Dimond defeated South Anchorage on Saturday 42-28 to remain unbeaten.
“I told these guys to just stay level-headed,” said Pili postgame. “Just come out and do the same thing we do every week.”South controlled things from the first kickoff. The Wolverines jumped out to a 14-7 lead with a chance to add to it midway through the second quarter.Pili lead the Lynx on a scoring drive to tie things up.
Two plays later, another snap went wrong. Initially looking like it would be another Dimond recovery, the ball squirted out of a three-man pile and into the hands of Heanu-Williams once again. And just like the last time, the burly defensive lineman galloped into the endzone, giving the Lynx a 14-point edge before halftime. The victory keeps Dimond and East Anchorage in a two-horse race for the top of the Cook Inlet Conference standings.
The two teams will face each other in week seven on Sept 27 in a potential battle for the conference’s top seed.
