More than 100 litres of diesel fuel flooded corridors and dripped through ceilings in a Melbourne CBD high-rise on Tuesday morning.Firefighters on the scene of the hazardous material spill on William Street.
“Residents of a high-rise building in Melbourne CBD reported diesel fuel flooding through the corridors and dripping through ceilings of apartments in the multi-storey building,” FRV said in a statement.“Firefighters have been able to contain the leak which has affected floors 19, 20 and 21 and are currently conducting atmospheric monitoring to ensure scene safety,” a spokesperson said.the building was an office tower and had no homes or residents – only workers.
The high rise has more than 40,000 square-metres of office space spread across 20 levels, its website says. Global commercial real estate service CBRE manages the tower.In an incident alert issued to media, FRV said at least 35 firefighters were on the scene, at the intersection of William Street and Flinders Lane, alongside Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria.“There are no patients at this stage,” a spokesperson said shortly before 10am. “Crews remain on scene for health monitoring.
