Diego Luna explains how Cassian's sister connects to Rogue One after Andor. 'And I think that's behind the decision of that last mission, that suicide mission in Rogue One. That's for her...'

Andor star Diego Luna suggests that his character’s search for his missing sister is never truly over and continues right through to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Following the story of Luna’s Cassian Andor before he became the ruthless Rebel spy audiences first met in the 2016 Star Wars spinoff film, the Andor series began with Cassian searching for his long-lost sister whom he had left behind on the planet of Kenari as a child.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY With Andor season 1 recently concluding on Disney+, many fans were left wondering if season 2 would somehow allow Cassian to continue his search for his sister as it draws ever closer to the events depicted in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

I don't think it's ever over. I don't think it's over in Rogue One, because I see that as one thing. It's like the feeling, it's one of those things that kind of follow every decision you make, or never letting [go] anymore, not again. That kind of thing. And I think that's behind the decision of that last mission, that suicide mission in Rogue One. That's for her. That's for Maarva, that's for his people, for his community.

With season 1 focussing on a series of closely connected events, Andor season 2 will certainly have a lot of ground to cover before it reaches Andor's intended conclusion. According to Gilroy, there will be a one-year time jump between the season 1 finale and the opening of season 2, as well as similar narrative jumps throughout the season itself.

While Andor season 1 revealed the early years of the fledgling Rebellion, it was still far from the coordinated Alliance destined to overthrow the Galactic Empire under the leadership of Genevieve O'Reilly’s Mon Mothma. From Luna’s comments, Andor season 2 will not only help audiences fill in the blanks on the road to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but also provide fans with a chance to view its characters in a whole new way.
