A 'Traitors' star just made a big, bold bad move

Colton correctly suspects that Lisa Rinna knows her way around the turret, but he’s leveraging that information all wrong. During episode 6, which hit Peacock on Thursday, Jan. 22, Colton did something unprecedented: he tried to make a deal with a Traitor. “I want to win this thing with you,” he told Lisa during a one-on-one conversation. “I will protect you at the roundtable if you protect me in the turret.”“I am a Faithful,” she declared. “You’re barking up the wrong tree.” During a confessional, Colton admitted that his unorthodox plan to “hold hostage” might be “really, really dumb.” About that, he is correct. Not only do the rules of the game make it impossible for a Traitor and a Faithful to “win this thing” together, but attempting to blackmail a Traitor is a great way to get murdered. Colton and Lisa haven’t built any trust or even a friendly rapport, so why would she agree to keep him around knowing that he thinks she’s a Traitor? It’s a flashy move that a player like Colton couldn’t resist, but it’s not a strategic one.It’s not a bad idea for a Faithful to cozy up to someone they suspect of treachery, but at no point should said Faithfulthe Traitor they’re on to them. The way to avoid murder is to make a Traitor feel like you trust them and would take them all the way to the end. That way they have no incentive to kill you and every reason to keep you around as long as possible. When Colton’s blackmail tactic didn’t work, he tried to get Lisa banished at the roundtable instead. He was only one vote shy of success, with Faithful Ron Funches getting booted instead. Lisa’s fellow Traitor Rob Rausch even voted for her, marking the first time this season a Traitor went after one of their own. Lisa was understandably riled up after the roundtable, feeling betrayed by Rob and furious with Colton. She called out Colton in front of several of their castmates, shutting down his belief that she’s acting too quiet to be a Faithful given her outspoken persona on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” “Colton, I’ve been in this business for 36 years. I just want you to know I am so much more than a Housewife,” she said. “Don’t expect me to be a Housewife because I am Lisa f—ing Rinna. I was Lisa f—ing Rinna before Housewives, and I am Lisa f—ing Rinna after.” Unfortunately for Lisa, killing Colton now would make her look suspicious. Her best bet is to have him banished, which wouldn’t be too hard to accomplish. Faithfuls Johnny Weir and Kristen Kish already suspect Colton, and he got several votes at the last roundtable. In his desire to be the head Traitor hunter, Colton has rubbed several of his fellow Faithfuls the wrong way.
