Rutgers football has received votes in the AP Top 25 in each of the last two weeks. Did the Scarlet Knights get any after falling to Ohio State?
fell short of the biggest upset in program history on Saturday, and it fell out of the national rankings on Sunday. It marks the first time that no voter put Rutgers in their ballot in two weeks; it had earned at least one vote in each of the last two polls. NJ Advance Media has an AP Top 25 vote but did not include the Scarlet Knights in its ballot this week.
As does the longest losing streak against ranked opponents in Division I football; Rutgers has now dropped its last 38 meetings with teams in the AP Top 25 poll following its loss to Ohio State — which was ranked No. 3 by the AP — on Saturday. The Scarlet Knights’ last ranked win was a 31-0 blowout of No. 21 South Florida in 2009, and their last top-10 win was 16 years ago against the same opponent. They have lost 15 straight matchups against top-10 teams since upsetting the No.
Rutgers has another this weekend against Iowa , the sole leader of the Big Ten West. A win in Iowa City would give the Scarlet Knights a real chance at breaking their decade-long AP Top 25 drought, further adding to a season that has already been a resounding success. At the very least, a victory over the Hawkeyes should earn Rutgers some votes.
