Recognized for her efforts and commitment to speed up the country’s growth, Information and Communications Technology Undersecretary Anna Mae Lamentillo was among Rising Tiger Magazine’s “People to Watch” in 2023.

Upon receiving the award — which seeks to acknowledge the endeavors of emerging leaders “who have been contributing to positive change” in the Philippines and Asia — Lamentillo said she hopes to continue her efforts in helping the Philippines achieve its full potential.

“Previously, we worked with 6.5 million Filipino workers to build roads, bridges, classrooms, flood mitigation projects, airports and seaports to improve mobility, access to basic services, and to connect our communities,” said Lamentillo, former chairperson of the Department of Public Works and Highways’ Build, Build, Build Committee.

The government official then enumerated new set of goals in line with the current administration’s vision of making the nation “fully digitalized.” “Now, our goal is to ensure universal connectivity — this includes bridging the digital divide, closing the digital gender gap, and ensuring digital inclusion so that Filipinos can fully harness the benefits of digital technology,” Lamentillo added.

Apart from being DICT’s Undersecretary, Lamentillo is also in charge of strategic communications and international relations as well as the agency’s legislative affairs.
