Indigent patients from Manila's 3rd district can now avail of free dialysis subsidized by the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. at the Passion Healthcare Philippines dialysis center in Binondo. Leading the inauguration of the facility was Manila 3rd district Rep. Joel Chua, who supported the endeavor along with the city government of Manila.
“We made sure Passion Healthcare complies with the Department of Health and PhilHealth standards on accreditation and quality standards for that kind of healthcare facility,” Chua said in a statement sent to House of Representatives reporters on Friday, June 16.The dialysis center in Barangay 288 in Binondo is owned and operated by Passion Healthcare Philippines, which has established similar centers in other areas.
Chua said the 23-machine medical facility will be open to, among others, indigent patients availing of free dialysis through PhilHealth. For now, it can accommodate up to 46 patients per day, but is expected to increase its capacity soon.To avail of dialysi, indigent patients will first be interviewed and assessed at the field offices. They would need to accomplish basic documentation as per regulations of the DOH and PhilHealth.
