Diablo 4 players feel in-game progression isn’t as satisfying as Path of Exile DiabloIV Diablo4 Blizzard

In his extensive post shared through the Diablo subreddit, TheStarNomad begins his statements by saying that “something feels very, very off in Diablo IV’s progression.” He would then go on to list a few reasons as to why they think the latest Blizzard installment is “boring” with the first one being its weak gear itemization. Apparently, this is because “Affixes are largely un-inventive and are so tiny in impact” that each low-tier gear you acquire is mostly the same.

Afterwards, they listed the “decorative” skill point investment as another issue that prevented them from enjoying the game. According to TheStarNomad, the values added upon leveling up each skill were so small that you could barely feel its effects while using it on enemies. This problem is made even more evident through Diablo 4’s world scaling that makes every enemy you face just as powerful as you are.

Because of this, you aren’t given the chance to see how powerful you’ve become and the gameplay loop just becomes an endless and unrewarding grind. Naturally, the reasons that TheStarNomad listed all resonated with other hardcore ARPG players as several commenters immediately agreed that D4 isn’t as satisfying as other previous entries.

As the post creator would note, however, these “problems” can all be improved upon so hope isn’t lost just yet. Additionally, Blizzard’s proactive approach to fixing a variety of problems during the early access period is also a very promising sign that could indicate more welcome changes in the future.
