While there is no current shortage of the insulin itself, there is a shortage which impacts the FlexTouch pen
Diabetics who use a popular type of insulin pen have been told that they may need to change their prescription after the manufacturer reported a major five-month shortage. The Department of Health and Social Care announced earlier this year that Tresiba FlexTouch 100 units/ml pens would be out of stock in the UK between August 2023 and January 2024.
Jackie Higgins, senior clinical advisor at Diabetes UK, said: "We ask that healthcare professionals take into account individual’s circumstances and their needs. This should include a discussion to ensure people can continue to manage their treatment and should include a prescription for any new device they need."
