PUTRAJAYA: The decision to allow Malaysians returning from abroad to be quarantined at home was made following the low rate of Covid-19 infection detected among them, says Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The Health director-general said out of the 51,347 returnees, the overall positive cases for Covid-19 was at 1%, with 554 cases.
“The total number of positive cases for the second swab test were 134 cases, which is lower than the first test,” he said during the ministry’s daily Covid-19 briefing yesterday. Whoever fails to adhere to the compulsory quarantine requirement and standard operating procedure will be fined RM1,000 and will be hauled to court.
