The Ohio Rail Development Commission is still deciding how many potentially new or expanded routes it wants to ask the federal government to provide study money for by the March 27 application deadline, according to commission spokeswoman Wende Jourdan.
The grant money comes from $66 billion in additional money for rail service passed by Congress as part of the 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. While the first phase would be entirely paid for with federal funding, states would have to kick in part of the money for subsequent phases.
