Screen Rant has the honor of exclusively premiering a new song by Will Bates and Bishop Briggs from the upcoming Netflix limited series, Devil in Ohio, which premieres September 2. Emily Deschanel stars in the suspenseful thriller, which is based on showrunner Daria Polatin's 2017 novel of the same name and inspired by real-life events. She plays Midwestern psychiatrist Suzanne Mathis, who takes in a troubled young woman named Mae .
Bates, who is an award-winning composer, scored Devil in Ohio in addition to collaborating with artists like Bishop Briggs on several songs he co-wrote for the series. His previous television work includes composing for Starz's Sweetbitter, starring Ella Purnell; fellow Netflix miniseries Unbelievable, starring Toni Collette; SyFy’s fantasy series The Magicians, on which Madeleine Arthur coincidentally guest starred; and the series Nightflyers, which was produced by George R.R.
I ran back to the studio that night and threw the kitchen sink at it. It was so inspiring knowing the combination of decibels and eerie beauty that she would bring to it. And then somehow she came up with those lyrics that just perfectly capture the show.
