EFFShutdown: Disorder and anarchy will not be allowed in SA, says Ramaphosa

Several civil rights organisations have released a statement condemning the planned shutdown by the EFF.

"We challenge the notion that a forcible shutdown is an accepted norm of protest. There is a clear distinction between the Constitutional right to protest or to canvass support for a stay away and the fear-mongering and forced shutdown of the country,” reads the statement. "Anyone who blocks roads, barricades highway, and prevent others from going to work will face the full might of the law," Cele said."The majority of society has rejected this call. This includes taxi and road freight organisations. People should not believe everything they read and see on social media. The situation is closely monitored by police across the country,” he said.

Normal operations will continue at all airports around the country on Monday when protests are expected, the Airports Company South Africa confirmed to News24 on Wednesday. - Malema says a starting point for the shutdown hasn't been revealed and he encouraged members and supporters to launch the shutdown at strategic locations.- The DA has created a template affidavit for business owners who feel threatened by the EFF ahead of its national shutdown. - The affidavit will be accessible to business owners nationwide and explains citizens' rights not to be intimidated or compelled to participate out of fear.
