‘How we can kick out someone that was born in Australia is literally beyond me.’
family has been ordered to leave Australia within days after their young daughter’s learning difficulties were branded a “burden” on taxpayers.
Kaur is head chef and the “amazing heart” of the Jarrah Bar and Cafe in Hillarys, in Perth’s northern suburbs, with friend and employer Wes D’Arcy now leading a powerful community effort to have her fortunes turned around.“This family loves Australia and this child is connected to her friends, family, teachers, her home, her environment and is now going to be disconnected, which will only add to her difficulties,” D’Arcy said.
Authorities have told the family their young girl would put pressure on the health system, with reports it would cost $140,000 over the next three years to give her the help she requires. D’Arcy said the family had worked in Australia for many years and paid taxes, but were being let down now they needed help.
