The California wildfires have tragically claimed at least 24 lives and left a trail of destruction across Southern California. The fires have also significantly impacted healthcare operations, forcing the closure of clinics and the postponement of non-urgent procedures. Several major healthcare systems have issued statements detailing the situation and their efforts to ensure patient safety and continued care.

At least 24 fatalities have been reported as a result of the devastating wildfires that have ravaged Southern California, with more than a dozen individuals still missing as of Monday morning. Authorities have issued mandatory evacuation orders for 105,000 people and evacuation warnings for an additional 87,000 residents. The widespread impact of the fires has extended to healthcare facilities across the region.

Kaiser Permanente, one of California's largest healthcare systems, confirmed that most of its facilities remain operational. However, at least nine clinics, including those located in Arcadia, Glendale, La Cañada Flintridge, and Los Angeles, have been forced to close. While Kaiser Permanente emphasized that its hospitals and emergency departments are functioning normally and patients are not being evacuated, it has taken the precaution of rescheduling elective procedures for a later date. Patients affected by these postponements will be contacted directly by their providers. UCLA Health has also reported disruptions to its clinic operations in the neighborhoods of Calabasas, Malibu, Pacific Palisades, and Pasadena. The extent of clinic closures remains unclear from UCLA's statement, but affected patients are being informed individually. The health system encourages patients with questions or needing to reschedule appointments to contact their physician's office or clinic. UCLA Health urges the public to reserve visits to its medical center emergency departments for urgent and life-threatening medical conditions. Cedars-Sinai, another prominent healthcare provider, announced on Monday its intention to resume non-urgent and non-emergency procedures, some of which had been temporarily postponed due to the fires. The medical network has reopened most outpatient offices and surgery centers, including locations in Brentwood/West Los Angeles, Los Feliz, Pasadena, and Santa Monica. Cedars-Sinai assures the public that it is committed to minimizing any disruptions to patient care. Huntington Hospital reported that its main campus in Duarte and all of its outpatient clinics are open, with staff working diligently to accommodate patients whose care was affected over the past few days.
