BERLIN: Deutsche Telekom will retain control of T-Mobile should Japan's Softbank liquidate its stake, CEO Tim Hoettges said on Friday as he vowed to claim top spot in the U.S. market.
The German company owns 43per cent of T-Mobile but the shareholder pact with Softbank assures it of strategic control and allows it to consolidate results of its largest subsidiary at group level. The U.S. merger has cemented T-Mobile's position as the country's No.3 wireless provider behind AT&T and Verizon .
