Detroit police officer Cameron Richardson was killed in an off-duty hit-and-run car crash on Sunday. Police say Richardson was driving home from work when a van collided with his Jeep Wrangler, causing it to roll over. The Detroit Police Department says they have identified a person of interest in the crash and are encouraging them to turn themselves in.

Interim Police Chief Todd Bettison described Richardson as “one of Detroit’s finest” in a community briefing Sunday. Bettison added the department has identified a person of interest who was allegedly driving the runaway vehicle. He encouraged that individual to turn themselves in.
