A new Netflix crime thriller has earned a perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score after its debut, proving that it is another major win for the streaming service. When it comes to crime thrillers, Prime Video remains the leading streaming service with its widely successful shows like Bosch, Cross, Reacher, and Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan.
Considering how all of these franchises are going incredibly strong and even set to return with new installments soon, Prime Video will likely continue to reign supreme in the genre for a while. The Norwegian crime drama has a total of nine episodes in its opening season and is led by Tobias Santelmann and Joel Kinnaman. It debuted with a solid 100% Rotten Tomatoes score, with many viewers and critics praising its performances and ability to keep one hooked. While it is too soon to tell whether Jo Nesbø's Detective Hole is as commercially successful as Netflix's other mainstream hits in the genre, its critical acclaim spells a bright future for it. The fact that it has a satisfying payoff towards the end of its first season that perfectly resolves all underlying story threads also assures that most viewers will end up completing it. Since completion rate alone can be one of the biggest parameters that defines a show's future, Jo Nesbø's Detective Hole might have a good chance of returning with more follow-ups. The show's season 1 adapts the fifth book, The Devil's Star, from the original series. If Netflix renews the show, it has an abundance of source material to draw from. While Netflix has given us hit franchises like The Night Agent and The Lincoln Lawyer, Prime Video has become the king of dad shows with its successful adaptations like Reacher, Bosch, Cross, and Jack Ryan.
