The “Flip Flop” bank robbery suspect was arrested by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office on July 5.
OKALOOSA, Fla. -
The man was caught on video on July 3, wearing flip-flops as he demanded money at Truist Bank in Destin on Emerald Coast Parkway. The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said its investigation determined the suspect was Charles Gallagher, 66, from Maritime Court in Destin. Gallagher’s 2017 black Maserati was seen at a local business with a covered insignia and without a license plate, in an alleged attempt to hide the identity of the car in connection to the robbery.
The OCSO issued a search warrant of the vehicle which revealed a bag of cash, a pair of sunglasses, and a light blue surgical mask that the suspect was seen wearing in footage of the incident.
