, is in direct opposition to a decision recently made to protect the students, teachers, and staff at his son Barron Trump’s private school, St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, located in Potomac, Maryland.
Potomac is located within Montgomery County, where, on July 31, Montgomery County health officer Dr. Travis Gayles announced “that all private and independent schools there will remain closed to in-person classes until at least October 1,”“Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have based our decisions on science and data,” said Gayles,“At this point, the data does not suggest that in-person instruction is safe for students or teachers,” the release reads.
But on August 3, Maryland’s Republican Governor Larry Hogan blocked Dr. Gayles’s local order, saying that private schools will be allowed to independently determine whether they are comfortable reopening, as long as they follow CDC coronavirus safety guidelines,
