Texas A&M and NIL: School confirms only 2 of 11 football recruits have NIL deals

Bridgeland’s Conner Weigman has pitched future “Weig ’Em” shirts via social media and appears to be one of the two early enrollees with an official NIL deal.COLLEGE STATION — The Jimbo Fisher-Nick Saban rhubarb has reached new depths — in a playful way in an SEC baseball tournament dugout.

Saban, 70, tried reaching out to Fisher, 56, his former offensive coordinator two decades ago at LSU, after Saban’s apparently errant commentary went viral, but Fisher wouldn’t answer his phone. Fisher’s response via the media: “We’re done.” The 19 other recruits are expected to enroll at A&M this summer, and by state law they’re not allowed to officially have any NIL arrangements in place until they’re college students. Based on the 18 percent of current members of the class of 2022 with official NIL deals, however, Saban not only was wrong, he was way wrong with the “bought” opine stated as fact.
