IN 1993, a recently married Navajo couple from the Four Corners region of the USA died within five days of each other, both reported shortness of breath and an autopsy of the bride found her lungs were full of fluid and twice the weight of the average person her age.

Though human to human transmission is thought by some experts to not be possible, such transmission was thought to have been detected in Argentina back in 1996.
