A CORONAVIRUS emergency fund set up to help out-of-work carers has received a 1,000 percent increase in applications in a fortnight.
In just 14 days The Care Workers’ Charity [CWC] has handed out £180,000 in 371 grants. The amount paid out equals the same value as was given away in the whole of last year. Some of the hardest hit throughout the crisis have been frontline care workers who have been forced to self-isolate without pay and as a consequence have struggled to pay bills. A public appeal has so far raised more than £221,000 towards a target of £1 million to help those most in need.
