CLEVELAND, Ohio -- After two days of depositions in Houston in connection with his civil suits, Deshaun Watson will land in Cleveland Thursday to take his Browns physical and complete the blockbuster trade to the Browns.
If all goes as planned, he’ll conduct his introductory press conference at the Browns facility on Friday, and be welcomed into the fold. The Browns’ brass will then head to the NFL Annual Meeting Sunday in Palm Beach, Florida, where Watson will be a big topic of conversation. The traveling contingent will include owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam, Chief Strategy Office Paul DePodesta, GM Andrew Berry and coach Kevin Stefanski.The Browns sent six draft picks to Houston in exchange for Watson and a 2024 sixth round pick. Houston received first rounders in 2022, 2023 and 2024, a third-rounder in 2023 and fourth-rounders in 2022 and 2024.
“Yeah, for sure,’’ Newsome said. “It definitely came as a surprise as soon as you saw that he kind of declined us at first. We kind of thought that it was over, so definitely it was a surprise.’’
