Gov. Ron DeSantis expanded on his economic platform following the release of his"declaration of economic independence" in early August.
On China, DeSantis's plan embodies a growing sentiment in both the Republican and Democratic parties. Namely, reverse the trade deficit, crack down on companies that profit off stolen intellectual property, and incentivize companies to bring business and manufacturing currently based in Chinese factories back to the United States.
The two other pillars of DeSantis's economic road map are tightly related. DeSantis made cracking down on"woke ideology" the face of his midterm reelection campaign, and he similarly argued Monday for ending"environmental, social and governance investing standards."
