Dispatch.com readers selected winners for the Columbus area Athlete of the Week for the competition period prior to Jan. 8
Athlete of the Week:Shulaw was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the Kevin Cleveland Memorial Tournament after winning the 175-pound championship. Seeded second, Shulaw pinned his first three opponents in 1:40, :42 and :57 and pinned top-seeded Colton Powers of Marysville in 3:57 in the final.
Shulaw received 43% of the vote and was followed by Upper Arlington wrestler Andrew Myers, who got 36% of the vote, Upper Arlington hockey player William Schauss , Dublin Scioto wrestler Ty Wilson , Ready basketball player Charlie Russell , Teays Valley bowler Loralai Kinzy and Teays Valley bowler Lukas Dunbar .
Myers, the runner-up, won the championship at 126 pounds at the Fairfield Invitational Tournament, defeating Bryce Sears of Cincinnati Colerain 10-3 in the finals. It was his second consecutive Fairfield Invitational Tournament championship. Russell had 18 points, three rebounds and two assists in a 57-35 win over Bexley, and 20 points, 12 rebounds and a block in a 44-35 win over Watterson.
