The NRL’s has acknowledged that Raiders player Chevy Stewart was offside when he charged down Kieran Foran’s field goal attempt.
Rival coaches Ricky Stuart and Des Hasler staged an animated conversation after their sides met in Canberra on Sunday night, moments before Stuart claimed his rival coach was “on another planet”.
The NRL confirmed on Monday that Stewart was off-side and the Titans should have had the chance to kick a winning penalty goal from in front of the posts. When asked about the NRL’s admission the Titans should have received a crucial penalty for the charge-down, Hasler told this masthead: “You win some, you lose some. We have to move on.”
“The bunker can’t review 10-metre compliance, and there’s a very good reason for that because in most parts of the field, depending on where the play-the-ball is, there’s no lines to assess,” he said.“It’s almost impossible in between lines to determine whether players are in front of the referee or not, particularly if they’re out wide.”
