Derry City clinched a European spot as Ronan Boyce's spectacular goal secured them a 1-0 win in the Premier Division contest at Cork City.Boyce hammered in his winning goal on 74 minutes.
The win moves Derry up to second spot in the table and they will host third-placed St Pat's next Friday knowing that avoiding defeat will secure a second successive runners-up finish behind Shamrock Rovers. The home team then had two goals disallowed before the break, firstly when Ruairi Keating was adjudged to have been offside and then for a foul by the striker in the build-up to another.
In a game bereft of clear-cut chances, the winner eventually arrived by way of Boyce's blockbuster as he rifled to the top left-hand corner from the edge of the area.
