Favors will join the Celtics as they navigate through several injuries to their roster, providing them with a veteran presence in the frontcourt. During his time with the Celtics, Favors has averaged 5.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game while shooting 66.7% from the field in 19 regular season games (five starts).
In a corresponding move, Maine also announced that the team traded Eric Gaines to the Windy City Bulls in exchange for the Returning Player rights to Derrick Favors. Favors is not expected to immediately join the team.Favors was selected by the New Jersey Nets as the second overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft after spending one season at Georgia Tech. He is most recognized for his tenure with the Utah Jazz, where he played for a significant portion of his career.
