Rochester, N.Y. — Kimberly DeRosa hopes to unseat Jen Lunsford in the race to represent the 135th State Assembly district.
hopes to unseat Jen Lunsford in the race to represent the 135th State Assembly district. 13WHAM spoke with both candidates hoping to represent Monroe County's east-side."I decided to run because I'm really dissatisfied with the state of our state," said DeRosa. "While my professional experiences in HR and retail management, I've always put my family first. So I've been the PTA mom.
"Small business owners that I speak to have are dealing with rampant theft that never seems to -- you know, the perpetrators never seem to have consequences," said DeRosa. "We need to make some changes so that our law enforcement officers aren't pleading with us to make legislative changes...We just need clean law.
"We've been seeing crime going down in every sector," said Lunsford. "We're way down in car thefts, way down in gun crimes, and that's because of the enormous investments that we've been making in community solutions that are preventing some of these crimes from happening in the first place, but domestic violence we still haven't gotten a handle on.
