Police and NIFRS attend late night blaze

Officers in Strabane, Co Tyrone are investigating the blaze fire at a derelict school building on the Milltown Road during the early hours of this morning, Saturday, July 9.

The blaze was at the old Strabane Academy site and was reported to police shortly after 12.10am this morning.The PSNI says officers and personnel at the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene of the fire, “which is believed may have been started deliberately”.Sergeant McGuinness said: “This was a large fire and significant damage has been caused to the property as a result of the blaze.

“We are therefore appealing to anyone who saw any suspicious activity, or has information or video footage which may help with our enquiries, to get in touch with us by calling 101 quoting reference 21 of 09/07/22.” The police said that anyone can submit a report online using their non-emergency reporting form via www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/ or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at http://crimestoppers-uk.org/.
