The aging computer dispatch system for the nation's largest sheriff's department remains out of commission.

“As a result, the Department is currently operating on self-dispatch while the issue is being addressed. Calls for service are still being responded to and are being manually tracked at the station level,” the statement said. It wasn't clear Thursday what caused the problem or how long it will take to fix. Department officials didn’t immediately respond to an email inquiring if there’s any indication the outage resulted from a malicious attack.
