A Guatemalan migrant living in the US illegally was arrested for allegedly molesting a young child in Alabama. The victim's family apprehended him and held him for police, leading to his arrest and charges of sexual abuse.
A 38-year-old illegal immigrant from Guatemala , Luis Lopez-Martinez, was arrested on Sunday in Alabama and charged with sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12. The victim's family reportedly caught Lopez-Martinez in the act of molesting the child and held him for police. According to authorities, Lopez-Martinez made a disturbing confession to police, stating, 'It is what it is.
'The family of the young victim reportedly wrestled the migrant to the ground when they discovered him assaulting the child. US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials have placed a detainer on Lopez-Martinez and are expected to initiate deportation proceedings once his criminal case concludes. Under federal immigration policy, Lopez-Martinez would first serve any prison sentence if convicted before being turned over to ICE for deportation. The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office in Alabama stated that the family of the young rape victim apprehended her assailant and held him for police after witnessing the crime. According to online records from the sheriff’s department, Lopez-Martinez is currently being held on a $2 million bail. Limestone County Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin expressed his gratitude to the deputies involved in the case, highlighting their commitment to protecting vulnerable members of the community and ensuring justice is served.
