The Department of Education is mulling to extend the enrollment period for public schools until July 15. The last day of enrollment for public schools was supposed to be on June 30.

“Para sa amin sa public sector, kino-consider namin na magkaroon ng extension probably up to July 15 sa mga bata na gusto mag enroll sa public school ,” DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones told DZBB on Tuesday.

“We are considering na mag extend ng enrollment kasi iyong mga dropbox baka di agad na drop ng mga parents iyong enrollment forms ng mga anak nila, so mag bibigay kami ng konting allowance ,” Briones added.Briones said the extension will also be done to give parents more time to decide where to enroll their children.

As of June 30, Briones said about 15.4 million students have enrolled for the coming school year, which she sees as a “good sign.” “Ang parents talaga gusto nila mag aral iyong mga anak nila . We encourage parents to send their children to school dahil maiiwan ang mga anak nila ,” she said.
