A moderate weekend is ahead for Denver before a slight snow chance returns to the area Sunday morning. cowx
Friday is set to be mostly sunny with a high of 54 degrees. The plains will likely be cooler than metro Denver and the foothills due to a pocket of colder air over the South Platte River and the deepest snow cover., the south side of Denver will reach 60 degrees by 3 p.m. and Fort Lupton will reach 35 degrees, a 25-degree difference across 25 miles.
The colder air pocket could creep southwest in the afternoon toward Boulder, Denver International Airport and the northern Denver suburbs, but it probably won’t reach the middle of the city. Friday’s low is 32 degrees, and cloud cover will increase overnight before a cloudy Saturday. The high Saturday will still be a moderate 56 degrees.
Some light snow is possible in the high country Saturday as a high-pressure system moves through northern Colorado.
