Coloradans will have very different weather depending on where they are today. Fog, then sun, in the city. Fire danger due to winds along the Front Range. And a winter weather warning with heavy snow is expected in the mountains.
Colorado residents along the urban Front Range also faced fire dangers Thursday and Friday due to dry conditions and the wind. Weather service forecasters issued red flag fire danger warnings, effective after 11 a.m., for Thursday and Friday, covering metro Denver, Colorado Springs, Pueblo and the southeastern plains.
In western Colorado, a winter weather advisory remained in effect for the north-central mountains west of Denver with as much as 18 inches of snow expected in some areas. This could lead to ice on roads. Starting late Thursday, snow was expected to increase in the high mountains, bringing as much as 18 inches to the Park Range. Wind gusting at speeds up to 50 mph could create slick, icy roads and difficult driving conditions, and weather service forecasters issued a winter weather advisory in effect until Friday evening.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 12PM Thursday to 6PM Friday for the Park Range. Snowfall amounts 6 to 18 inches, along with wind gusts up to 50 mph will create difficult travel conditions at times.
