Acting Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Craig Trainor stated in a letter to the district's superintendent that the conversion has left East High School with an exclusive restroom for male students and no restroom for female students on its second floor. The OCR investigation was prompted by a parent's complaint at a school board meeting alleging that the district had compromised the comfort of female students by limiting their restroom options. The investigation also encompasses all-gender restrooms installed at the Denver School of the Arts and CEC Early College, both serving grades 6-12.
